Abraham Valentine Williams Jackson (1862-1937) was a pioneer of Iranian studies in America and is considered the first major American academic Iranologist. Jackson, who also taught Indo-Iranian languages at Columbia University for about 40 years, is considered a renowned scholar in the language, literature, and religions of ancient Iran, and traveled to Iran five times for his Iranological studies and observations.
